A Review of the Diplomat Tribe with Rachel East Episode Summary:

Welcome to this episode of the Marketing Personalities Podcast! I’m Brit Kolo and I’m here today with Rachel East, co-founder of Clarity on Fire.

Rachel and I are here to discuss the Diplomat tribe of personalities, which includes the types INFJ, INFP, ENFJ, ENFP. This tribe of personalities all share the same two “middle letters” of their personality type – the N and the F.

N stands for Intuitive.

F stands for Feeler.

Before we dig into the specifics of the Diplomat tribe and Rachel’s personality type, though, let’s get to know Rachel first.

Rachel is a certified life and career coach at Clarity On Fire – her coaching company she co-founded almost seven years ago with her best friend and fellow coach, Kristen Walker.

Rachel and Kristen have an interesting story of how they both, separately but also together, came to the conclusion to found a life and career coaching company after having a tumultuous experience in the corporate “real world.” To hear the ins and outs of Clarity on Fire’s origin story, listen in to the Marketing in Yoga Pants episode #12.

Today, Rachel and Kristen offer one-on-one life and career coaching, a semi-annual group intensive experience, an evergreen course, and the Passion Profile Quiz – a simple, BRILLIANT assessment to help its takers find out HOW they’re made to bring their passions to the world. The assessment has been taken over 400,000 times so far and it continues to bring self-awareness and ah-hah moments to new people every day.

As mentioned, Rachel is an INFJ and therefore, a part of the Diplomat tribe.

Right off the bat, Rachel and I shine a light on the fact that Diplomats, as intuitive feelers, always have deeper places they want to go. And when it comes to assessments like the very ones we’ve created – Marketing Personalities and the Passion Profile Quiz – they’re incredible places to begin and super helpful tools for self-awareness and permission-giving. And yet, as Diplomats, we recognize there’s always more to the story. Our personality types and passion profiles are never the entirety of who we are as human beings AND still valuable.

So if you’re a Diplomat thinking, ‘Okay, Marketing Personalities is cool and helpful but there’s so much more out there too,’ I HEAR YOU. I feel that too! And I love that.

I relish in the fact that this is one interesting piece of this life existence puzzle and that we get to chew on it for a while, should we choose to.

Beyond the Diplomat tribe’s tendency to go deep, I was curious to hear from Rachel, being that she’s both an N and an F – an intuitive and a feeler – how she blends her intuition, feelings, and emotions, while showing up consistently in her business. Because in my experience, sometimes that’s a challenge. We think we should be working, but our deeper knowing tells us to pump the brakes.

Here’s how she described the balance:

Rachel recognizes the mind’s tendency to tell us what we should do and its common opposition against our deeper knowing, and yet she’s decided (possibly helped by the fact she’s a J, judging type) to embrace her intuitive feeler preferences and trust her deeper knowing more than her thinking mind.

We both agree this is a practice and not always easy, but worth it as Diplomats who were made to act and live in this way.

Digging deeper into Rachel’s specific type, INFJ, she recognizes long-form, evergreen content and marketing efforts work and feel best for her. Hard-and-fast selling and launching is the worst in her book so she (and her INFJ co-founder, Kristen) stick to creating consistent long-form (and long-winded *wink wink*) content in the form of blog posts and podcast episodes. They resist big launches and keep her launches schedules super simple, straightforward, and at a minimum.

Finally, when I asked Rachel to give a fellow Diplomat her best advice, she encourages Diplomats to resist the urge to logistically figure things out with their minds and practice acting from intuition and their deeper feeling and knowing to create a business and marketing strategy they can truly enjoy and have work for them.

Such great advice!
